Profile search and Circle directory

1. These are separate consents

Profile search and Circle directory listing are off by default. They are not required for registration, sign-in, synchronization, the private library, or a private Circle. Each switch is a separate voluntary consent to make the data listed below available to other signed-in Margent users.

2. Profile search

When you enable “Allow search by @username,” the following becomes available:

• display name;
• exact username;
• selected profile symbol and color;
• profile bio, when provided.

Recipients: signed-in Margent users. Purposes: exact-username search, invitations, and identifying authors of Circle actions.

3. Circle directory

This choice is available only while profile-search consent is active. When you enable “Show Circle in directory,” the following becomes available:

• Circle name and description;
• selected Circle symbol and color;
• access mode: open or request-to-join;
• member count;
• the creator’s profile data made available under the section above.

Recipients: signed-in Margent users. Purposes: Circle directory and search, joining an open Circle, or sending a join request. A private Circle does not appear in the directory.

4. What stays private

These consents do not disclose:

• email, sign-in data, device details, or technical identifiers;
• the private library, notes, tags, return history, or settings;
• thoughts you did not share in a specific Circle;
• reports, blocks, private saves, or support requests.

5. Giving or withdrawing consent

Open Profile → Settings → Data and privacy. Your choice is recorded with the text version, time, and action source. Consent lasts until withdrawal or account deletion.

If the consent text or data scope changes, the previous permission no longer enables search or directory listing until you review the new version and make a new explicit choice.

Withdrawing Circle-directory consent immediately makes the Circle private. Withdrawing profile-search consent also disables directory listing and makes your profile and owned Circles private. Data already received by another lawful recipient may remain with that recipient where and for as long as the law permits.

6. Processing and protection

To provide the selected feature, Margent may collect, record, organize, store, update, retrieve, use, provide access to, block, delete, and destroy the listed data automatically over a network. The data is not sent to advertising networks and is not used for cross-service tracking.
